Bizzarrini P538 Competition

The Automobile

The P538 was Giotto Bizzarrini's purest creation: a mid-engined endurance prototype built for one purpose — to race at Le Mans against the fastest machines of its era.

Conceived in 1966, the P538 placed its engine behind the driver in a lightweight spaceframe, clothed in a low, functional body whose every line answered to the wind tunnel of experience rather than the styling studio. Only a handful were built before the programme was cut short — leaving the P538 as one of the great unfinished chapters of Italian endurance racing.

The Millechiodi continuation takes up that chapter. Each example is hand-built by Italian artisans to the configuration of the original competition programme: spaceframe construction, mid-engined layout, and bodywork formed and finished the way Giotto's mechanics did it — by hand, panel by panel.

As with the 5300 GT, the vision is deliberately narrow: a strictly limited series developed with Scuderia Grifo Bizzarrini, where each car is a personal commission rather than a production unit. For the collector, it is the closest thing possible to standing in Giotto's workshop while a P538 takes shape.
